Serenity has over 15 years of experience in developing remarkable marketing programs and integrated campaigns for tech, e-commerce and design-driven environments.  Serenity Thompson is an accomplished, energetic senior marketing executive with a 15-year track record of success within start-up, turnaround and rapid growth environments.

At A23 Advisors, Serenity works with clients in the firm’s strategic marketing practice, focusing on high growth, customer experience, adoption and scale. Current clients reflect a diversified portfolio spanning travel, ecommerce, adtech and fintech, and Serenity has successfully positioned the firm at the forefront of market disruption and e-commerce trends. 

From 2013 to 2016, Serenity was Vice President of Marketing at Switchfly, powering travel experiences for the most widely recognized brands in travel, financial services and eCommerce, including Marriott, IHG, United Airlines, Azul, JetBlue, Southwest, American Express and Groupon. At Switchfly, Serenity implemented a strategic combination of PR, content marketing and thought leadership to amplify brand awareness and launch the company’s first-ever online lead generation programs. Also among her achievements is her leadership in productizing the Switchfly platform into solution suites, then launching its flagship Air solution.

Serenity is a veteran of the digital marketing and social media ecosystems within design-, media- and tech-driven industries, pioneering cutting edge approaches such as gamification, experiential marketing and user generated content. She is credited with having a deep understanding of how emerging trends will affect consumer behavior and impact business. 

Serenity co-created "The Social IT Game" (2012), a noted interactive game that looks at technology investment and management challenges from an executive perspective then facilitates discussion, best practice sharing and resolution. The game has been widely played around the world. In 2005, while Serenity was responsible for global online advertising at Oracle, she predicted that the introduction of smartphones along with open wi-fi networks and social networking platforms would drive a new wave of marketing practice, now called social media and experiential marketing. Also a prolific writer, Serenity authors several blogs and newsletters, and has written scripts for many corporate videos as well as adaptations for the stage and screen. 

Serenity graduated from the University of California, Santa Cruz with a BA degree in Performing Arts and earned her MBA in Marketing at the University of San Francisco, graduating with Honors. 

Serenity is active in initiatives to support women’s leadership in business, including the Professional BusinessWomen of California (Board Member), Women in Travel Tech, the Travel Industry Executive Women’s Network and the Boutique and Lifestyle Lodging Association. She volunteers her spare time to Habitat for Humanity.

Serenity lives in Oakland with her husband and young son, where they are Official Airbnb Superhosts for a popular property known as The Urban Farm.
